Focus on consolidating economy, Lungu advised

President Edgar Lungu has been advised to prioritize the consolidation of the economy now that his 90 days to settle down in office have elapsed.

Opposition United Liberal Party (ULP) President Sakwiba Sikota is encouraging President Lungu to also pursue further the issue he has already started that of uniting the country.

In an interview with Qfm News, Mr. Sikota has further counseled the President to additionally concentrate on making life easier for the Zambian people.

He states that now that it has been unanimously agreed that the country needs a new constitution, the Head of State must also see to it that in the quickest and most practical way a new supreme law is delivered to the people of Zambia.

The ULP leader notes that what President Lungu should do in this respect is to build consensus on how this should be done.

He has also advised that the opposition on the hand should start focusing on what is important to the people in rendering checks and balances to President Lungu and his government.

Mr. Sikota has suggested continuous reminders to the President to deliver on what is expected of him as such checks and balances the opposition should focus on.
