Chief Mumena calls for policies to enable Zambians access finance for land

Chief Mumena of the Kaonde speaking people in Solwezi district says there is need for the government to come up with deliberate policies and laws to enable the Zambian people have access to finances to acquire land.

Chief Mumena says it is sad that despite the country being blessed with abundant land and other natural resources, the housing deficit in the country has continued to rise.

He says the situation calls for financial institutions and other cooperating partners to help Zambians acquire finances much easier.

The traditional leaders stresses that if people are enabled to own land, the benefits will translate into reduced levels of poverty at household level and will also contribute to the economic growth of the country.

Chief Mumena further states that the country should try by all means to begin building more housing units so that the housing deficit is reduced.
