Zambia will continue to fight child marriages – Professor Luo

Gender and Child Development Minister Nkandu Luo say it has emerged that Zambia is among the few countries that have government, civil society and traditional leaders working together in ending child, early and forced Marriages.

Professor Luo says because of this status, Zambia was asked to share her experience in the fight against child, early and forced marriages with other countries in Africa citing that the country’s multi sectoral approach to the fight against the vice was applauded.

Professor Luo says the country will continue to fight against early and forced child marriages so that children enjoy their childhood and become responsible adults in future who will contribute to national development.

She has commended the role that civil society organizations, traditional leaders and other stakeholders have played in the fight against early and forced child marriages stressing that together the country can win the fight.

Pro Luo further states that the country will not relent in ensuring that early and forced child marriages are stopped.
