The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) says it is shameful and immoral for the UPND to launch a smear campaign targeted at President Edgar Lungu in an attempt to frame him as a leader who is tolerating corruption.

PF Media Committee Vice Chairperson Sunday Chanda has told QFM News in a statement that President Lungu remains committed to ensuring that the fight on corruption is not just fought with rhetoric but action, contrary to insinuations by the UPND and Lubansenshi Member of Parliament Patrick Mucheleka.

Mr. Chanda says Zambians recall that during the appointment for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Board which included Timothy Kabalata as chairperson, Steven Moyo Vice-chairperson, Godfridah Sumaili, Mpanzi Sinyangwe, and Rollen Mukanda as commissioners, President Lungu strongly warned that corruption was not only unacceptable but also a serious crime against development.

He says the President has reiterated the position that he will not pre-empt investigations but instead give room to institutions of the State such as ACC to conclude investigations and make recommendations.

He adds that as the UPND congregates to manufacture political smear campaigns against the person of President Lungu, they must know that Zambians are aware that one of the greatest scandals in the nation’s history has to do with the privatization of the mines and other parastatal companies.

Mr. Chanda says before UPND can begin to make outrageous demands, let them not forget that Zambians have always yearned for an opportunity to look into Hakainde Hichilema’s accumulation of wealth considering that its public knowledge that he was not born in a privileged family.

The PF Media Committee Vice Chairperson alleges that even as the UPND Spokesperson Charles Kakoma engages the media on behalf of UPND, he would be doing justice to the nation by shedding more light of what his party leader knows about the privatization of RAMCOZ Mine in Luanshya.

He says Zambians can be assured that they voted in a President who means business and that Zambians can be re-assured that President Lungu will never sacrifice his Presidency for expediency.
