Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Minister Yamfwa Mukanga says government will not tolerate corrupt civil servants saying they are a hindrance to national development.
According to the 2014 Zambia Bribe Payers Index, the Road Transport and Safety Agency is among the top ranked public institutions were bribery is rampant.
Mr. Mukanga says the agency is there to reinforce the law and not for individuals to amass wealth for themselves through dubious means.
Mr. Mukanga says government will do everything possible to ensure that civil servants do not engage themselves in corrupt practices because the huge negative impact corruption has on the country’s economy.
