Thornton reaffirms continued UK support to Zambia

British High Commissioner to Zambia James Thornton has reaffirmed the UK’s continued support to Zambia.

Speaking at a reception to mark the Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II in Lusaka today, Mr Thornton says the High Commission’s first goal is to support poverty reduction, economic growth and good governance in Zambia.

Mr Thornton has paid tribute to the commitments by President Lungu to reduce poverty, uphold good governance, and support business.

And Mr Thornton has encouraged Zambia to use its influence for good in the world.

He says the UK wants to support Zambia in creating an environment that attracts as much foreign investment as possible to Zambia.

The British High Commissioner notes that this is a great way to create jobs for Zambians.

Mr Thornton has also sent his best wishes to first republican President Dr Kenneth Kaunda and hopes he will return to full health soon.
