Zambia will face Malawi in an international friendly next month.

The Football Association of Zambia disclosed on Wednesday that the two sides will meet in Lusaka on May 10.

FAZ spokesperson Nkweto Tembwe said both teams will field home-based players in that friendly that will be used as build up for both sides’ participation in next month’s 2015 Cosafa Castle Cup.

“Zambia will play an international friendly match against Malawi on May 10,” Tembwe said.

“The match is scheduled for Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.”

“Since the match will not be played on a Fifa sanctioned date only players from the local league will be invited. The match will be used as preparation for the 2015 Cosafa Cup.”

The friendly will come seven days before the Cosafa Cup tournament kicks-off in South Africa from May 17-30.

Zambia and Malawi are on bye from the preliminary round group stage matches and will enter the competition in the quarterfinals that start on May 24.

Malawi will face Mozambique on May 24 while defending champions Zambia await the victor from Group A on May 25.

Group A comprises of Namibia, Seychelles, Mauritius and Zimbabwe.

This will be Zambia’s second friendly since returning from the 2015 Africa Cup in Equatorial Guinea after beating Rwanda 2-0 on March 29 at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
