President Edgar Lungu has disclosed that regional leaders are working quietly to address the issue of xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

President Lungu says the issue of xenophobic attacks in South Africa will also be an issue that will be discussed further by SADC leaders when they convene in Zimbabwe under the leadership of President Robert Mugabe next week.

He says this is despite maintaining the hope that the leadership of President Jacob Zuma will address the problem speedily.

President Lungu was speaking this morning at State House when he received letters of credence from ambassador designate from Saudi Arabia Abdullah Abdulrahman Rashed Alowaifeer and High Commissioners designate from Botswana and South Africa Lebonaamang Thanda Mokalake and Sikose Mantombazaba Mji respectively.

And President Lungu has underscored the bilateral and multilateral relations which Zambia enjoys with the countries.

He says he trusts that the envoys will rise to the occasion and build upon the good work of their respective predecessors to consolidate further such good relations.

Meanwhile President Lungu is in Kitwe to officially open the US$50 million Mukuba Shopping Mall.

The presidential Challenger jet carrying the President touched down at Ndola’s Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International airport at about 10:47 hours.
