Patriotic Front Media and Publicity Vice Chairman Sunday Chanda says calls by the United Party for National Development (UPND) for Zambian workers to shun labour day celebrations should be ignored.

Mr. Chanda says the UPND must be reminded of the gains Zambians workers have achieved over the last 50 years which needs to be celebrated and appreciated.

Mr.Chanda notes that not everything needs to be politicized, but that it is important that politicians put aside their differences and work together on important national days.

He adds that the UPND as a party aspiring to be in government would need the support of other political parties on national events when in government thus it is important that they support the present government during national events.

Mr. Chanda has further appealed to workers in the country to turn out in large numbers on 1st May and celebrate their day.

And PF Shibuyunji district Chairman Joseph Kasonde says the habitual behavior of the UPND to always incite people not to participate in national events is cheap politics that will never earn them political mileage and popularity.

Mr Kasonde says UPND Chairperson for Labour Percy Chanda has no moral right to incite workers for any national boycott.

He has reminded Mr Chanda that national events are beyond partisan lines.
