Norwegian Ambassador to Zambia Arve Ofstad
Norwegian Ambassador to Zambia Arve Ofstad has hailed government’s decision to make changes to the 2015 mining royalty tax.
Mr.Ofstad says the move by government is a step in the right direction.
Mr.Ofstad notes that despite the negative response which the move has received from some stakeholders, there is need for government to handle the changes with the necessary attention.
He states that the most important thing is to understand the impact of the changes and improve the levels of dialogue with the mining companies if things have to work out.
Mr.Ofstad adds that in as much as government has the right to make such policy decisions, there is also need to ensure that such changes benefit the country.
