Chief Mumena says Zambians should benefit from mineral wealth

Chief Mumena

Chief Mumena of the Kaonde speaking in Solwezi district says the Zambian people should feel the benefits coming from the country’s mineral resources.

Chief Mumena says the people of Solwezi want to feel the benefits coming from the mines in the area.

He says it unfair for the local people not to benefit from the mineral wealth in their area.

The traditional leader notes that the revenue coming from the mines in north western province should be ploughed back to benefit the people in the province before it is extended to other parts of the country.

Chief Mumena says the people of Solwezi are waiting to see development in the district.

He has expressed happiness that President Edgar Lungu has promised to develop the whole country without looking at the voting patterns in the 20th January presidential election.

Chief Mumena states that the assurance by President Lungu is welcome considering that as President he is president for all Zambians regardless of whether they voted for him or not.

He is hopeful that Solwezi and North Western province as a whole will get its fair share of development.
