Government says it will by June this year complete the labour law reform on fast tracking the amendment of the employment Act to abolish cazualization.

Labour Minister Fackson Shamenda says contract employment will be restricted to jobs which are not of a permanent nature or those which have a life span.

He says cazualization has become the order of the day which should not be the case because Zambians need to have permanent jobs so that they stop living in fear of losing jobs anytime.

Mr. Shamenda states that his ministry will also make sure that people are given reasons for the termination of contracts unlike the case is currently where people get contract terminations without being given reasons.

He adds that by the end of the year, the Industrial Relations Act and the Labour Relations Act would have also been completed.

Mr. Shamenda says government is harmonizing the 12 labour laws to five so as to bring them up to date and protect the interest of the workers.
