Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe says progress has been made in the establishment of Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).
Ms. Mwanakatwe says the board is already in place and what is remaining is for management of the IDC to come up with a programme that will foster the work for the corporation.
She explains that IDC is a tool for modernization and diversification of the economy in order to create jobs, wealth and prosperity for the Zambians.
Ms. Mwanakatwe stresses that as soon as those tasked to come up with a programme for IDC have done so, many Zambians will be able to set up businesses which in turn will contribute to the country’s economic growth.
She says the IDC will in enhance private sector participation in the economy once the programme is in place.
Ms. Mwanakatwe further states that the setting up of the IDC will greatly contribute to the country’s economic well being.
