Chief Mukobela of the Ila speaking people in Namwala district has expressed worry that the dry spell experienced in most parts of the country will lead to increased poverty levels in the country.
Chief Mukobela notes that already the levels of poverty are high in the country especially in rural areas.
The traditional leader says government should quickly put effective measures in place to help avert the looming hunger situation in the country.
He adds that the high poverty levels are a hindrance to the economic growth of the nation.
Chief Mukobela states that he is hopeful that the situation will not get out of control but that necessary measures will be taken as soon as possible.
