FODEP urges large turn out in by-elections

Electorates in tomorrow Parliamentary and Local Government by-elections have been encouraged to turn up in large numbers and cast their votes for their preferred candidates.

The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) is appealing to the people of Chawama, Masaiti and Senga Hill constituencies to use the opportunity presented to exercise their right to vote without intimidation or favour.

FODEP Executive Director Macdonald Chipenzi reminds the electorates that there is no other opportunity availed to them to participate in the decision making process than to participate the election process.

Mr. Chipenzi says FODEP is therefore advising electorates in three constituencies and wards where by-elections will be held tomorrow to vote wisely.

The FODEP Executive Director was speaking this morning during the official opening of FODEP’s second Finish Embassy supported People’s Dialogue Platform held in Kasama District in Northern province.

The one day People’s Dialogue Platform is being attended by among others local political party leaders and civil society organizations.

And Kasama acting District Commissioner Getrude Simukoko who graced the official opening of the People’s Dialogue Platform has reiterated the Patriotic Front (PF) government’s commitment to ensuring that citizens continue to participate in the country’s developmental and national decision making process.

Ms. Simukoko who is also Kasama District Administrative Officer (DAO) has also made an assurance of the PF government’s desire to sustain as premium people’s participation in national affairs.

She has particularly paid tribute to FODEP for the initiative of coming up with the People’s Dialogue Platform in her District.
