Attacks on President Lungu sadden Govt

Government is disappointed with certain media institutions which have waged sustained attacks on President Edgar Lungu all in the name of media freedom.

Information and Broadcasting Services Deputy Minister Forrie Tembo has told QFM News that these media institutions have now assumed the role of the opposition ignoring media ethics in the manner they are attacking the President.

Mr Tembo says there is need to respect the wish of the majority of the people who voted for President Lungu by respecting him as Head of State.

He says media and freedom of expression come with responsibility.

Mr Tembo says what some media institutions are writing about the Head of State would not have been tolerated by previous regimes.

Mr Tembo has also described as unfortunate Fourth Revolution President Erick Chanda’s recent attacks on President Lungu.

He says Mr Chanda’s attacks on the Head of State are unfair and unfounded.

He states that Mr Chanda has no proof of the allegations he made against the President.
