High cost of doing business in Zambia worries ZFE

The Zambia Federation of Employers (ZFE) has implored government to consider sitting with relevant stakeholders to take an analytical approach and identify the root cause of the high cost of doing business in the country.

ZFE President Tyson Chisambo says the exchange rate that is deteriorating continuously and the inflation rate which has started going up is increasing the cost of doing business which is still highly dependent on imported production imports.

Mr. Chisambo notes that they are alive of the efforts the government is taking to try and remedy the situation but states that government alone cannot find the solutions but needs to dialogue with relevant stakeholders on how best the issues affecting the cost of doing business can be dealt with.

He adds that at a time when there is a shortage of job in the country and the levels of poverty are high, it is important that there is an enabling environment for businesses to flourish in the country which will in turn contribute to job creations.

Mr. Chisambo further has further encouraged business people to come on board and advice government on how best it can help them.
