Politician William Harrington says democracy, good governance and national development can only be sustained if the opposition is strengthened.
Mr. Harrington is former Senanga Member of Parliament says this is because the opposition is there to provide checks and balances and make the government accountable to its people
He adds that he believes strengthening democracy in any country does not mean one should belong to a particular political party.
Mr. Harrington who also served as Cabinet Minister in the Frederick Chiluba regime says it is for this reason that he has not joined any political party or formed his own political party.
