REA completes 5,920 connections

The Rural Electrification Authority (REA) says it has completed about 5,920 immediate connections across the country as at February 2015.

REA public relations officer Justin Mukosa has told Qfm News in an interview that the number includes 131 grid extension projects, 328 solar energy projects and four sustainable solar marketing projects among others.

Mr. Mukosa says from the original targeted beneficiaries the numbers could triple as ZESCO also continues to connect customers.

He explains that the authority will go flat out to connect everybody who will be on the grid extension line including private institutions.

Mr. Mukosa adds that REA will also continue to monitor its projects with the view of providing the best service to the beneficiaries.
