OSF asks govt to invest in Legal Aid

Open Society Foundation has observed that the lack of legal representation for average Zambians has denied many people of fair trial and justice.

OSF Executive Director Obbious Chikombola says it is in this light that as Open Society Foundation, they are calling on Government to effectively and efficiently improve man power and Invest in Legal Aid so as to improve free legal representation to people.

Mr Chikombola says it is common and public knowledge that most average Zambians can afford to pay for legal services.

He states that it is undeniable that access to justice has been and has become a luxury in Zambia condemning many to losing properties, being jailed without the recourse to the law while others are imprisoned without fair trial.

Mr Chikombola says Government and the legal Aid Department should make Legal Access available to a common man.
