FODEP urges Media –Police mutual relationship

The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has called on Media and the Police to work towards sustaining a serious mutual relationship during the course of their duties.

FODEP Executive Director MacDonald Chipenzi has advised that there is need for the Media and the Police to desist from being each other’s master in their discharge of duties.

Mr Chipenzi says the media and Police should view each other as equal partners in their pursuit of issues inimical to Zambia’s democratic process.

Mr Chipenzi has told Qfm News by telephone that it is therefore not in the interest of the country’s democracy if the Police continue harassing media practitioners in the course of their duty.

He adds that FODEP is also calling on the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) and other stakeholders to organize workshops or seminars for both the media and the Police on how they should relate.
