CRAZ attributes traffic accident deaths to negligence by law enforcers

The Commuters Rights Association of Zambia (CRAZ) has charged that negligence on the part of law enforcers has contributed to the continued loss of lives through road traffic accidents in the country.

CRAZ President Aaron Kamuti laments that despite the many check points and road blocks being mounted on the roads, there is little or no difference being seen when it comes to the number of road accidents being recorded.

Mr Kamuti says it appears traffic officers are focusing on making money for themselves at the expense of doing their job.

Mr. Kamuti says it is sad that people have continued to lose lives through road accidents when the various stakeholders have advised the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) on the measures to put in place to avoid road carnages.

He states that considering that the country recorded a number of road accidents last year, the Road Transport and Safety Agency should have learnt from the experience by putting certain measures in place to prevent accidents and save lives.

Mr. Kamuti says that as an association, they are saddened by the death of seventeen who died in Mazabuka District after the Monze bound Fuso fighter truck they were in rammed into Shoprite checkers building.
