United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has hailed the European Union (EU) for its efforts in reducing Zambia’s maternal mortality rate.

UNICEF Zambia country Representative Hamid El- Basher Ibrahim says the EU has shown true love and leadership to saving lives of mothers and babies in Zambia.

Dr. Ibrahim notes that it is possible for Zambia through the ministry of health to provide special service delivery to mothers and children at times and aim to save life every second.

Dr.  Ibrahim explains that he has no doubt that the millennium Development Goals (MDG’s)  specific objective to increase utilization of quality health and nutrition services by vulnerable women, adolescents and children was improving in Zambia.
