Power Dynamos beat CF Mounana 3-0 on Saturday but it was not enough to keep them in the 2015 Caf Confederation Cup.

The Zambian club needed to beat their guest from Gabon 5-0 but instead exited the competition 4-3 on aggregate despite the home win at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Power secured the win thanks to goals from midfielder Kelvin Mubanga, striker Alex Ngonga and Zambia defender Christopher Munthali.

Mubanga put Power ahead in the 28th minute when he smashed in a long range shot to hand the home side a 1-0 halftime lead.

However, Power were fortunate to have gone into the break in the lead after Mounana striker Louis Autchanga’s shot luckily came off Power’s post in the 36th minute.

Ngonga extended Power’s lead in the 68th minute when goalkeeper Stephane Bitsieki parried the ball into the Power striker’s path from an initially effort by Mubanga.

Munthali tapped in the host’s final goal from close range in the 88th minute.

Mounana’s defeat ended their 100 percent run in the competition after coming to Zambia armed with three successive wins in which they never failed to score until this weekend.

The Gabonese side will host Orlando Pirates in the last 16, first leg during the weekend of April 17 and travel to Johannesburg on May 2.
