The opposition Green Party says it finds it unacceptable that the people of Zambia have continued to live in poverty five decades after independence from colonial rule.

Green Party President Peter Sinkamba says his party is saddened that the cost of living in the country has also continued to go up.

Mr. Sinkamba says the Green Party thinks that what is needed now is a government that is able to utilize the country’s natural resources to benefit and improve the livelihood of Zambians.

He states that he will however not wait until he is in government to help reduce the cost of living in Zambia.

The Green Party President says he will compliment efforts of government of the day while he is still in opposition in order for the people of Zambia themselves to judge him as to whether he is the leader they need or not.

He notes that this is why he has to this effect requested to meet President Edgar Lungu at State House so that he can see how best he can help government address the challenges that the country is currently facing.

Mr. Sinkamba has also urged other opposition leaders to bring out their ideas of how they think the country’s challenges can be addressed.
