It is laughable hallucination to suggest President Lungu risks being impeached- PF

The ruling PF has described ADD president Charles Milupi’s suggestion that President Edgar Lungu risks being impeached as a laughable hallucination.

In today Saturday the 4th of April’s edition of the Post Newspaper Mr. Milupi has been quoted to have cautioned President Lungu to be wary that he risks being impeached by Parliament if his directive to make changes to the current Mine tax regime is effected without the approval of Parliament.

But the ruling PF thinks that Mr. Milupi’s advice is laughable owing to the fact that his party does not have any member in Parliament.

In a statement to Qfm News PF Media and Publicity Committee Vice Chairperson Sunday Chanda says his party does not even think that the entire opposition in Parliament can marshal sufficient numbers to secure an impeachment vote against President Lungu.

Mr. Chanda says Mr. Milupi must however realize that nothing has happened that would at any length warrant an impeachment motion in Parliament.

He states that Zambians should therefore be assured that President Lungu is very much within the boundaries of the law and acting in the best interest of Zambia and the mining investors.

The PF Media and Publicity Committee vice chairperson notes that his party on the other hand finds it saddening that the ADD leader has allegedly joined the bandwagon of alarmists whose objective is believed to instill a sense of fear in the people.

He says the ruling PF is further saddened that an opposition leader of the educational background like Mr. Milupi can stoop to such levels of making ridiculous statements when he can do better.

Ms. Chanda has reminded Mr. Milupi that President Lungu is still a seasoned lawyer and does not need to be reminded by screaming headlines in the press.

He has suggested that Mr. Milupi should in this case worry about himself and his party.
