ZP urges security consciousness during Easter Holiday

The Zambia Police Service has advised members of the public to be security conscious as they commemorate this year’s Easter holidays.

The Police is encouraging people in the country to secure their valuables as criminals would also want to take advantage of the situation by committing crime during this period.

Spokesperson Charity Munganga-Chanda has told Qfm News in a statement that all those wishing to hold parties or overnight prayers are also advised to notify the police in their areas of jurisdiction so that officers can monitor the situation in case of any security concerns arising.

Ms. Chanda has also disclosed that during this years’ Easter holiday, police officers will be deployed country-wide to conduct both foot and motorized patrols in order to maintain law and order.

She states that the patrols will be conducted from 18:00 hours to 06:00 hours in the morning and that people should not feel intimidated by the presence of the police in your areas as they will be there to protect your lives and property.

The Police spokesperson has further advised motorists to abide by road traffic rules and regulations in order to reduce on accidents which may lead to injuries or loss of lives.

She warned criminals who would like to take advantage of the holiday that the Police will not hesitate to arrest anyone one found breaking the law and take them to court.
