CRHE sees need for comprehensive knowledge interventions on HI/AIDS

Centre for Reproductive Health and Education (CRHE) says there is still need for comprehensive knowledge interventions in the area of HIV and AIDS.

CRHE Executive Director Amos Mwale says reading through the latest Zambia Demographic Health Survey (ZDHS) clearly shows that stakeholders have a lot to do in sensitizing the general public and more especially the young people on the dangers of HIV, pregnancies and the correct use of condoms.

Mr. Mwale explains that the low use of condoms still remains a challenge as this poses more danger to contracting the HIV and AIDS virus.

He says it also impressive to note that the ZDHS has revealed the use of family planning among women has increased from 33 percent to 37 percent with maternal health reducing at reasonable rate.

Mr Mwale further points out that the one percent reduction in the HIV/AIDS prevalence rate in the country, the numbers are still worrying despite the investment in HIV programmes in the country.

He has however noted that creating more awareness is key to getting better results in future.
