Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao has returned to the club full of confidence after netting three goals for Colombia.

With just four goals in 22 appearances for United, the 29-year-old has struggled to establish himself following a lucrative season-long loan deal from Monaco – and many expect manager Louis van Gaal to allow him to return to Ligue 1 in the summer.

But Falcao has been back among the goals at international level in the last week, scoring twice in a 6-0 win over Bahrain and adding another in Monday’s 3-1 victory over Kuwait.

He told Sport 360: “I think when I score it’s always important and that gives me confidence. I said before I need minutes, I need to play games in a row and here in the national team I have had the opportunity.

“I gave my best and I scored and I now return to Manchester with more confidence.”

Asked what his targets are for the remainder of the season, Falcao added: “Wehave the last eight games. I will give my best to have the chance to play asmany minutes as possible.

“I have said before I need to play. I need minutes andI am confident about me, about my fitness. I am confident.

“I have faith about that and when the season finishes I am going to sitand think about my future and what is the best for my career.”

United paid 6m for a season for Falcao’s services and would have to fork out another 43.5m to make his move to Old Trafford a permanent one.
