Govt pleased by works at Mamba Collieries power plant

Government has expressed happiness with the developments being undertaken by SEPCO Electric Construction Corporation at the Thermal Power Plant at Mamba Collieries in Sinazongwe district.

Home Affairs Deputy Minister Gerry Chanda says the massive development by the Chinese construction company at the plant has cheered government especially that the nation needs such investments for the purpose of achieving economic development.

Colonel Chanda says the issue of the 696 Chinese experts who are currently working at the plant should in this case not be dramatized because the project being undertaken is a massive investment that requires enough manpower with the skills to deliver quality works.

Colonel Chanda has also advised those criticizing on the number of employed Chinese at the plant to find time and visit the site to see for themselves the nature of works currently going on.

Colonel Chanda said this in mamba when he visited the 600 megawatts thermal power project to familiarize himself with the works going on at the plant.
