The opposition Zambians for Empowerment and Development (ZED) has called for a government- stakeholders’ symposium which should be used to address the current economic challenges in the country.

The ZED thinks that the current challenges of the weakening Kwacha as well as other challenges in the sectors of Mines and Agriculture require such a meeting where ideas can exchange on how best to move forward as country.

ZED president Frederick Mutesa has recalled that such an indaba has been held before in the country under the Rupiah Banda led Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) government and therefore can still be done even under the Patriotic Front (PF) government.

Dr. Mutesa has told Qfm News by telephone that for the fact that there is a new President under the PF government his party is of the view that he should be given a benefit of doubt that he could agree to holding of the symposium it is proposing.

He says President Edgar Lungu has already demonstrated to the nation so far by his actions that such a meeting is possible.
