Msoni rules out disbanding of APC

Opposition APC President Nason Msoni says it is not politically correct that a political party is only considered active when it participates in elections.

Mr. Msoni says political parties in a democratic dispensation are not formed for the sake of taking part in elections alone.

He says this is why he does not agree with the suggestion that when a political party stays for a long time without participating in elections it should either join another political party that does or disband.

Mr. Msoni has told Qfm News in an interview that he has learnt from his political career that when a political party is formed it goes through phases of consolidation in its growth.

He has given an example of the ruling PF which started with only one Member of Parliament but has now grown to become the party in government.

The APC president says this entails that during its political consolidation a political party needs to first win the minds of the people and project its programs and policies before it could grow into a big party.

He states that it is on this basis that his party the APC is not in hurry as it is also aware that Zambia is not going to come to an end in 2016 that every small political party should disband.
