Govt poised at de-congesting prisons

Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila says government is paying close attention to the welfare of prisoners in the country.

Mr. Mwila says as Minister under which prisoners fall he is aware of the congestion that is there in prisons across the country and that he will soon be giving an update on how best the inmates can be de-congested.

He explains that it is government’s desire to ensure that inmates are given the attention they deserve with regards to accommodation because they are also human.

Mr. Mwila notes that it is for this reason that his government has embarked on rehabilitating some prisons to help mitigate the challenge of congestion in prisons.
