Rwandese refuges will not be given passports – Mwila

Government says it will not give Zambian passports to Rwandese refuges living in Zambia.

Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila has told Qfm news in an interview that the demands by the Rwandese refuges are misplaced because the law does not allow such.

Mr. Mwila explains that the current status for the Rwandese refuges is they are still refuges and have to be restricted in the refugee camps.

He says it is in this regard that government will not rush to give Zambian passports to refugees without following what the law stipulates.

Mr. Mwila says he has since sent his deputy Colonel Panji Kaunda to Rwanda to go and discuss the status of the Rwandese refuges in Zambia.
