PAZA urges IBA to deal with hate-speech promoting stations

The Press Association of Zambia (PAZA) has urged the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) to deal with radio stations promoting hate speech.

PAZA President Andrew Sakala says the concerns raised by government regarding some radio station promoting hate speech should be taken seriously by all stakeholders.

Mr. Sakala notes that there is need for all broadcasting stations to be ethical and professional in the manner they broadcast.

He states that that in as much as the media needs to regulate itself, there is need to uphold professionalism.

Mr. Sakala adds that it is in this regard that the IBA has a huge responsibility to ensure that the monitor the output of the content by radio stations.

Mr Sakala has also appealed to all media personnel to be professional at all times regardless of the media institution they work for.
