Zambia Youths Association in the Fight against Corruption (ZYAFAC) has hailed the move by the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) to begin verifying monies linked to Zambians stashed at HSBC bank in Switzerland.
ZYAFAC Executive Director Rickson Kanema has told Qfm News that the move by the FIC is a step in the right direction as it will help ascertain the facts with regards the money in question.
Mr. Kanema says his organization anticipates that the Financial Intelligence Centre will do a thorough job in their investigations so that the truth comes out and the culprits if any brought to book.
Mr Kanema adds that there is need to safeguard tax payers’ money from selfish individuals.
Last week the Financial Intelligence Centre disclosed that it has started verifying the money stashed at the SWISS Bank HSBC linked to Zambians.
