The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has welcomed government’s position to hold a referendum on the bill of rights side by side with the 2016 general elections.

YALI President Andrew Nthewewe has told qfm news in a walk in interview that the proposal by government is in the right directions because it will be cost effective.

Mr. Nthewewe explains that the position is a realistic way of doing it and it will be more cost effective on the part of the tax payer.

He stresses that YALI is already looking at this with great optimism and only hope that government   immediately puts in efforts to ensure that they walk the talk.

On Thursday, Dr Simbyakula delivered a Ministerial Statement in parliament saying that piecemeal amendments to the constitution by pushing agreeable clauses through parliament would be the quickest and less contentious way to proceed on the constitution making process.

The Justice Minister also pointed out that the much anticipated referendum on the draft constitution may be held side by side with the 2016 general elections.
