Government targeted to issue 1.75 million people with National Registration Cards (NRCs) under the 2015-2016 national mobile Registration exercise to be conducted by the Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship.

Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila has told Parliament in a ministerial statement today that K25 million has been set aside in this year’s budget for the mobile registration exercise.

Mr Mwila says phase one of the mobile registration exercise will be conducted in northern, Muchinga and central province, while phase two will capture Lusaka southern, western and eastern provinces.

He adds that third and last phase will carter for Copperbelt,Luapula and north western provinces.

Mr Mwila says the mobile registration exercise is expected to take 90 days per phase.

Mr Mwila stated that at the end of phase three of the exercise an evaluation of the whole process will be undertaken in order to revisit some areas which may not have been adequately covered and improve on the future exercise.
