United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema has demanded that government immediately addresses the fuel situation in the country.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Hichilema has accused the Patriotic Front administration of failing to show leadership in managing the economy.

Mr. Hichilema says he anticipated the economic crisis because government has from time to time shown lack of capacity to plan.

Mr. Hichilema states that very soon the price of fuel will go up thereby triggering the increase in the price of most food commodities arising from the dynamics coupled with the fuel price.

And Mr. Hichilema says Zambians will continue to suffer and endure the high cost of living due to poor planning by the party in power.

He states that it is clear that under the Patriotic Front, the kwacha has also continued to collapse a situation which he says will lead the country into a serious economic crisis.

Mr. Hichilema has implored Zambians to wake up and open their eyes.
