Govt urged to hasten in stabilizing Kwacha

The Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflections (JCTR) has called on government to quickly find ways of stabilizing the Kwacha.

The JCTR wants government to also hasten in addressing the issue of fuel shortage in the country.

Executive Director Leonard Chiti says his organization has fears that the fuel shortage and the continued falling of the kwacha will negatively affect the growth of the economy if not urgently addressed.

Father Chiti says government should be wary that the consequence of a weakening currency and the shortage of fuel might be very difficult to handle if it takes long to arrest the situation.

He states that the JCTR is thus advising government to consult with relevant stakeholders on best and promptly the two issues can be dealt with.
