The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has charged that the way government has handled the issue of suspended Director for Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito leaves much to be desired.

FODEP Executive Director Macdonald Chipenzi says government first started by harassing the DPP and humiliating him before deciding to come up with a tribunal.

Mr. Chipenzi notes that Mr. Nchito had to come up with a defensive mechanism which is why he had to go to court to stay the proceedings of the tribunal.

He however says it is good that the way has been cleared for the tribunal to proceed.

He adds that the tribunal could be a platform for Mr Nchito to clear his name as he will have an opportunity to explain himself.

Mr. Chipenzi further states that as long as the tribunal will be conducted in a transparent and impartial manner, it will be a good platform for Mr. Nchito to clear his name.
