Govt cautioned against manipulating constitution to fix Nchito

Government has been cautioned not to manipulate the constitution in its quest to have Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mutembo Nchito removed from office.

The Zambian Voice says all citizens in the country are equal before the law and therefore Executive powers are not supposed to be used to fix adversaries.

Executive Director Chilufya Tayali says his organization thinks that Mr. Nchito was created into a something like a monster by the Patriotic Front (PF) government itself due to the powers he was given.

Mr. Tayali states that the PF government should therefore not draw the Judiciary or the citizens in their endeavors to have him removed from office.

He notes that Mr. Nchito on the other hand should also realize that time for him to leave his current position has come.

The Zambian Voice Executive Director has advised Mr. Nchito not to push his luck too far especially that it has been widely thought that he may have not deserved the position of DDP in the first place.

He says Mr. Nchito should be allowed to resign in order to save the Zambians from what he has termed as hullabaloo which he notes does not benefit anyone.
