ZNWL appeals to govt to expedite enactment of constitution

The Zambia National Women’s Lobby (ZNWL) has appealed to the government to expedite the enactment of the new constitution.

ZNWL Chairperson Beauty Katebe says it is her organisation’s considered view that the draft constitution contains progressive clauses which if enacted will contribute to the development of the nation.

Ms. Katebe has urged the civil society organizations not to relent in their demand for a people driven constitution but continue to push until the people of Zambia have a new constitution in place which will help the country move forward.

She adds that government should not delay in enacting the new constitution but take the issue as a serious matter.

Ms. Katebe further states that it is the new constitution that may help alleviate the high poverty levels in the country among other challenges facing the country.
