Any party can win Chawama by-election –AVAP

The Anti-Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) has advised the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) against viewing the Chawama Parliamentary by-election as a must win election.

AVAP Executive Director Richwell Mulwani says despite the Parliamentary seat having been held by President Edgar Lungu any political party can win the by-election.

Mr Mulwani says his organization is therefore asking members of the ruling party not to declare the vacant Chawama constituency a no go area for other political parties.

He has told Qfm News by telephone that his organization wants to see all political parties participating in the poll adopt the One Zambia One Nation motto in their campaigns and avoid any acts of violence.

Mr Mulwani states that this is what will signal that Zambians are one people despite having different political affiliations.

He has particularly called on the Zambia Police and the Anti-Corruption of Commission to ensure there is a leveled playing field to enable all political parties freely conduct campaigns.

Mr. Mulwani says this is especially that Chawama constituency already has a history of violence and AVAP foresees history repeating itself if the Police and the ACC are not proactive.
