Norwegian Ambassador to Zambia Arve Ofstad has appealed to government to pay more attention to the agriculture sector if the high poverty levels in the country are to be reduced.
Ambassador Ofstad has told Qfm news that time is now for the government to find strategies that will take the agriculture sector to another level.
Ambassador says agriculture is key in improving the living standards of the majority Zambians who cannot afford a descent meal in a day.
He has expressed confidence that Agriculture Minister Given Lubinda will do his level best to address the challenges in the agriculture sector.
Ambassador Ofstad stresses that improving the agriculture sector will help create more jobs and grow the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
