Govt to deal with gender inequality

Government has realized the need to deal with the challenges of gender inequality in the country from the grass-root level.

Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila says the commitment that government is putting in place through legislature and rights need to be commended by the society.

Mr. Mwila explains that upholding of the gender course is vital in our society saying women need to take up the responsibility of speaking up for themselves unlike waiting for men to do so.

The Home Affairs Minister notes that the Patriotic Front-PF administration has made strides in appointing women in higher leadership positions such the Vice President Inonge Wina and Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani among many others.

Mr. Mwila stresses that the milestone done must be supplemented by women taking up the mantle to champion and foster the national cause of development.

He notes that not until everyone commits to the fight to attain gender equality as the theme depicts, women will continue to suffer gender in-equality through political and social status.
