Govt disburses K43M to 1,300 youth groups between 2012 & 2014

Government says K43 million has been disbursed to 1,300 youth groups under the Youth Development Fund between 2012 and 2014.

Youth and Sport Minister Vincent Mwale has told Parliament in a ministerial that this has facilitated the creation of over 3,000 employment opportunities for the youths.

Mr Mwale says it is expected that this number will increase in 2015 as government has provided K29.3 million in the 2015 national budget for the youth development fund.

He says of the K29.3 million provided, K3 million will go towards grants to youth organisations,K20.4 million will go towards the revolving fund and K5.8 will go towards administration of the fund.

Mr Mwale states that in order to ensure equity and efficient distribution, the funds have been divided and allocated to provinces using a scientific formula that takes into account the population variables.
