DPP Mutembo suspended,faces Tribunal

President Edgar Lungu has suspended Director of Public Prosecutions Mutembo Nchito and has with immediate effect appointed a tribunal to enquire into alleged misconduct and alleged acts of impropriety against him as provided under Article 58,sub-article (2) and (3) of the Constitution of Zambia.

Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda in a statement made available to QFM News says names those appointed to serve on the tribunal as former Chief Justice Annel Silungwe who will chair the tribunal, former Chief Justices Mathew Ngulube and Ernest Sakala as members and Mathew Zulu as Secretary.

Mr Chanda says the Tribunal has been tasked to, and among other things, recommend nchito 2whether the DPP ought to be removed from office as a result of the allegations against him.

President Lungu has since notified Chief Justice Irene Mambilima of the Matter.

And President Lungu has in accordance with article 57 of the constitution of Zambia appointed Mrs Lillian Shawa Siyuni to discharge the function and powers of the Director of Public Prosecutions during this period.

Meanwhile President Lungu has terminated the contract of Mr Felix Nkulukusa as Permanent Secretary for Economic Management and Finance and replaced him with Dr Ronald Simwinga who was until his appointment Director of Investment and Debt Management.

The Head of State has also appointed for Times of Zambia Managing Director Godfrey Malama as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting services and has also appointed PF Copperbelt province Chairman Stardy Mwale as Lusaka province Permanent Secretary.
