President Edgar Lungu greets Army Commander Lt. General Paul Mihova before leaving Heroes Stadium

Republican President Edgar Lungu this morning collapsed during the International Women’s Day celebrations at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda has confirmed the development to QFM News in a telephone interview that the President is currently at Mina Soko Military Hospital.

Mr. Chanda says the doctors have advised President Lungu to rest for two hours before returning to State House.

He says the found some traces of malaria and that is possibly caused fatigue.

Mr. Chanda says there is no need to worry saying the Head of State is doing fine now.

Earlier, President Lungu addressed the people in the midst of the proceedings that he is not feeling too well.

President Lungu told the people who gathered at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka to commemorate International Women’s Day that the doctors are suspecting that he has malaria.

President Lungu says the development should not worry the nation.

President Lungu delegated Gender Minister Professor Nkandu Luo to take over the proceedings saying he has been advised by his doctor to go to the clinic.

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is “Gender is my agenda make it happen”.
