Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) President Charles Milupi has advised that President Edgar Lungu will do better if he focuses much on the country’s economy other than on politics.

Mr. Milupi says concentrating on the economy is what will enable President Lungu’s administration to create employment, wealth for Zambia and Zambians as well as stabilize the country’s weakening currency the Kwacha.

He says if the President avoids political squabbles and to concentrate on growing the economy, the country will be in a position to generate extra revenue that can be used on social programs and infrastructure development as opposed to sourcing for finance by borrowing.

Mr. Milupi has told Qfm news that Zambia’s economy can grow if the attention is placed on productivity.

He says this entails the country abandoning the current consumptive approach the Patriotic Front government has concentrated on.

The ADD president states that Zambia’s economy can grow in just a few months if only there is a serious attempt on downstream processing or value addition on the raw products the country is currently producing in the Mining, Agriculture and Manufacturing sectors.

He says if the country begins to increase its exports, reduce on its requirement for imports in addition to reducing on its requirement to pay interests on external debts, the pressure on the kwacha will also go down.
